La Crosse Tribune,
August 1, 2006 . . . Student again
wins Oktoberfest
button contest
By Geri Parlin
.
It’s hardly a
surprise.
Once again, a
student at
Western
Technical
College in La
Crosse has
designed the
winning
Oktoberfest
button.
Hannah Fisher,
23, is a graphic
design student
at WTC, which
has a history of
producing button
design winners.
After
graduation, she
plans to work as
a graphic
designer, first
independently
and then for a
company, she
said.
Her winning
design used the
2006 theme — Our
Hannah
Fisher
standing
next to
the 2006
Oktoberfest
button
she
designed.
Community on
Parade — and
featured polka
dancers,
musicians and
children
enjoying fest
activities.
“I knew they
hadn’t had any
people on their
button” in a
long time,
Fisher said,
which is why she
decided to
interpret
community as
people, rather
than the place
where
Oktoberfest is
held.
“I was
surprised” at
the win, she
said. “I was
kind of
shocked.”
