Seven to compete for
title of Miss La
Crosse/Oktoberfest

Seven women will compete
at 7 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 15, in the 24th
annual Miss La
Crosse/Oktoberfest
Pageant at Viterbo
University’s Fine Arts
Center.
Miss America 2006
Jennifer Berry Gooden
will host this year’s
pageant, whose theme is
“Dancing through Life.”
The evening also will
include appearances by
Miss Wisconsin 2007
Christina Thompson and
Misty’s Dance Unlimited
Performance Companies.
Kristina Smaby is the
outgoing Miss La Crosse/
Oktoberfest.
La Crosse area women
competing in the Miss La
Crosse/ Oktoberfest
Pageant are:
Gina Gentry, daughter of
Cheryl and Brian Gentry,
will perform jazz dance
to “What a Feeling.” Her
platform is eating
disorder intervention,
and she is a student at
West Salem High School
Kristina Gross, daughter
of Carol and Gary Gross,
will perform dance to
“Feeling Good.” Her
platform is diabetes
awareness, and she is a
student at Viterbo
University.
Tiffany Krohn, daughter
of Susan and Timothy
Krohn, will sing
“Beautiful Disaster.”
Her platform is choosing
to lead a healthy,
active lifestyle, and
she is a student at
UW-La Crosse.
Megan Kublank, daughter
of Kathleen and Robert
Kublank, will perform
ballet en pointe to “Danse
Espagnole” from “The
Nutcracker.” Her
platform is the ability
in disability, and she
is a student at UW-La
Crosse.
Tracy MacKinnon,
daughter of June and
John MacKinnon, will
perform dance twirl to
“Sing, Sing, Sing.” Her
platform is breaking the
language barrier:
English as a Second
Language, and she is a
graduate of UW-La
Crosse.
Mandy Nogle, daughter of
Nanette and Tom Nogle,
will perform ballet
dance to “I Can Only
Imagine.” Her platform
is the importance of
reading, and she is a
student at UW-La Crosse.
Abby Rupnow, daughter of
Julie and Michael Rupnow,
will sing “Somewhere
Medley.” Her platform is
American Cancer
Society’s Relay For
Life, and she is a
student at UW-La Crosse.
